02. The Hush Sound (SPECIAL POST!)

I'm only at my second entry and it's already a SPECIAL POST?

Gee whiz, I'm really making a name for myself. Anyway, the point of this entry revolves around the band The Hush Sound. I've heard the name before, I might have even heard them before. Tonight though, I was deep in conversation with my friend Maddy (shout out!) and she mentioned that she had seen Dimitri Martin (another favorite of mine). She told me that Dimitri Martin reminded her of me, and then said in the same vein that "Crawling Towards The Sun" by The Hush Sound made her think of me. I've never heard the song, so I thought I'd check out their Myspace page to see if it was there.

Well. The song wasn't there, but once the available tunes started playing I was sold. Now, I'm wittling down my limited funds to consider buying their albums off iTunes, though I've always been partial to buying the actual albums themselves.

Here's two reasons why:

1) I like the mix of male/female singers. I think it adds a level of clarity to music that you don't see from solo-gender bands.

2) Piano. Sold. I love it when piano is mixed in with rock or alternative. I've noticed that a lot of indie bands deviate towards the usage of piano in their music. And I know why. It rocks, that's why.

The Hush Sound is beautiful music. The voices aren't over-the-top, the music is something you can tap your feet to, and if loud enough, can just go all out fun with. If this is your style of music, you really can't go wrong with The Hush Sound. Give it a gander!
